What’s QA training all about?

Posted by admin - 15/11/09 at 11:11 pm

QA training is about making sure a product or software has been developed according to the agreed specifications, requirements, standards and functionality defined by the customer. QA online training involves teaching of a set of automated testing tools and some primary manual testing concepts that are utilized to verify or determine whether the product/software meets the prescribed requirements.

The QA online training can be simply divided into the following major modules-

  • Manual testing training
  • Software testing training
  • Quality center training
  • Quick test professional training
  • Load Runner training

  • Manual testing training

It involves the process of manually testing software for defects; it requires a tester to manually test the software by following a test plan and running the software through skillfully prepared test cases. Manual testing training teaches the tester to test and evaluate the product through all the SDLC (Software development life cycle ) stages. Multiple testing techniques like unit testing, system testing, user acceptance testing etc are used. It also involves the planning and making of test cases and also appointing various roles during the testing process.

  • Software testing training

Software testing can be briefly defined as the process of verifying and validating that the product meets the predefined characteristics and requirements. Software testing training involves different testing methods like white box testing, black box testing and grey box testing .It also consists of multiple testing levels like unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing etc, they are used to test the functional characteristic of the software there are methods to test the non-functional aspects of a software which includes scalability, security, usability testing etc.

An important aspect of QA training includes automated testing, it is done with the help of automated testing tools like Load runner, Quick test professional, WinRunner, Silk test etc.

  • Quality center training

Quality center is a web based management tool that provides a centralized approach of the entire project and provides an easy interface in organizing and management activities like Requirements coverage, Test Case Management, Test Execution Reporting, Defect Management and Test Automation.

  • Quick test professional training

QTP is a web based functional automated testing tool created by Mercury Interactive, it works by identifying the objects in the application UI or a web page and performing the desired operations on them. QTP can also be used to capture object properties like name or handler ID etc. To perform these actions, QTP uses a scripting language built on top of VBScript to specify the test procedure, and to manipulate the objects and controls of the application under test.

  • Load Runner training

Load Runner is an automated performance and load testing tool developed by Hewlett-Packard, it accurately measures and analyzes the system performance and its functionality. Working in LoadRunner involves using three different tools which are part of LoadRunner. They are Virtual User Generator (VuGen), Controller and Analysis. The Virtual User Generator (VuGen) allows a user to record and/or script the test to be performed against the application under test, and provides the tester with the ability to play back and make modifications to the script as and when required. The script prepared in VuGen is run via the Controller; Analysis is used to prepare graphs for the tester to view after taking into account the completed scenario result.

QA courses can be extremely beneficial for people who are seeking a change in their career path and would like to join the I.T. industry, as for QA training no prerequisite knowledge is required. It is ideally suited for beginners and entry level job seekers.
